Main Square

The heart of the city is the plaza de armas (main square), surrounded by elegant arches, the municipality, the cathedral church in neoclassical style, built in the mid-19th century, on the ruins of the old church. The Cathedral of Arequipa has a side facade that occupies the north side of the square.
