MUSEUM OF THE CENTRAL RESERVE BANK OF PERU

Pre-Hispanic past and valuable Pinacoteca

This museum allows us to integrate the pre-Hispanic past of Peru, since it presents samples of ceramics from cultures from other regions of the country such as Moche, Nazca, Chavín, Inca, Recuay, among other cultural developments of very fine workmanship, certainly, very appropriately presented. in its spatial, thematic and temporal context.

The Numismatic hall offers us the possibility of knowing the republican past from one of its edges such as the coins, notes and other exchange documents issued in Peru

Finally, its valuable Pinacoteca is made up of a series of paintings of particular beauty, mainly from the Cusco school, specialy from the 18th century and two extremely special canvases, one in large format in which a scene of the Passion of Christ is represented, attributed the master Bernardo Bitti and another representing the owner of one of the two manors (Goyeneche and Bustamante) that house this museum, Bishop Sebastián de Goyeneche, whose family was one of the most notable not only in Arequipa and Peru, but also also from Europe and who had a notable work in that particularly difficult situation that Arequipa lived between the Viceroyalty and the Republic.
